I run a DNS service too at http://www.gratisdns.de.
I think a reason, why xname.org was attacked often is, that it’s a completely free service.
Attackers seem to host their SPAM sites there and are not happy, if their sites will be removed.
I personally tried to solve this general problem by forcing my users to make a donation, if
they want to stay for a longer time on my servers. For this reason i only have a small number
      of complaints regarding my users.
So my service is working as a “Shareware” DNS service.

My general recommendation for all affected users is to have at least 1 reliable secondary DNS at another location/provider.

(Regarding granitecanyon: The site doesn’t work since some years !!)

Thanks for commenting! I find 1 EUR/year for a single domain NS a very good proposal.
I edited your comment to fix the link…
Also, I added a note to granitecanyon on its last updated date.

      New service - http://www.freedns.ws … I like it! :)

    7. Bogdan Says:

      wow, it’s hosted by hosting.ua :)

I strongly suspect that freedns.ws is going to become non-free quite soon… but still, added to the list.
